Maui Making a Difference in the Fight Against Breast Cancer
The Maui Spirit of Survival Walk Against Breast Cancer is a sister walk to the main fundraiser that happens on Oahu. Our sister walk on Maui gives Maui a voice in the fight against Breast cancer! It is a Maui team fundraiser to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Hawaii. Although the main walk is located on Oahu, all fundraisers on neighbor islands support the state wide event.
Every Making Strides event is an incredible and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about the disease, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives.
Join us by participating in the walk along the beautiful Wailea Beach Path for a rolling start between 7-11am on October 20, 2018. You may register to walk as a team member by following the link below or visit our registration table the day of the event located at Polo Beach Park. Let's show Aloha to those affected, raise our spirits, raise our voice and raise funds to end Breast Cancer!
Welcome to The Maui Spirit of Survival Walk Against Breast Cancer. We are an exciting event on Maui that gives an opportunity for all to show aloha to everyone who has been affected by Breast Cancer. This is the only walk on Maui entirely devoted to funding the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Hawaii. Our 4th annual walk is being held on October 20, 2018. Our walk against Breast Cancer is held in solidarity with the state wide event on Oahu annually in October.
You can help finish the fight against breast cancer by raising funds for and walking with American Cancer Society Making Strides of Hawaii. Join more than one million people each year who are helping to end breast cancer.
All proceeds from the Maui Spirit of Survival walk Against Breast Cancer will go directly to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, funding breast cancer research and patient services programs in Hawaii.
In 2017 there were more than 2.8 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. This includes women currently being treated and women who have finished treatment. Approximately 40,290 women in the U.S. were expected to die in 2017 from breast cancer, though death rates have been decreasing since 1989. Women under 50 have experienced larger decreases. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness. Donations to The Making strides Against Breast Cancer walks have had a direct impact on these decreases.
The Spirit of Survival is an Event that we can show our Aloha spirit to those who are surviving and honor those who have gone. This walk is a way to give to those who need help in Hawaii
The Annual Maui Spirit of Survival walk Against Breast is an opportunity for all of us, family, friends and business owners of Maui to join in the fight against breast cancer.
Whether you support a walker, walk or volunteer to make this event a success, you are showing the world you care enough to do something for so many who are loved. You will make a difference and together we will show that Maui makes a difference! I look forward to seeing you there!
